Want Soft, Gorgeous Skin? You Should Try Dry Brushing Your Body

You’ve heard of roller jade, body combing and now – body brushing! Let’s be real, no matter how much of body lotions that you apply to your body, it’s still not as smooth as you want it to be.

If you’re not a fan of dimpled thighs, you need to seriously try dry body brushing.

What is dry brushing?

Dry body brushing is a method of body exfoliation that uses a dry natural-bristle brush to brush the skin in a particular pattern.

The benefits of dry brushing

1. Lymphatic Support

Dry brushing your skin regularly can detoxify the body naturally by stimulating the normal lymph flow from within the body.

2. Exfoliation

You don’t have to spend money on fancy spas to get rid of dead skin cells, just use a natural bristled brush to naturally exfoliate your skin. Your skin will be less dry and much softer in just a few days!

3. Reduce Cellulite

While there are no shortcuts or magic tricks for you to get rid of cellulite, dry brushing can mobilise and help to the even distribution of fat deposits under the skin. Just be sure to do it continuously to make your skin smoother and firmer.

Dry brushing is polarizing. People either love or hate it. Or then, they start off hating it, but grow to love it, like I did. At first, this Ayurvedic ritual felt too abrasive and rough for my liking. I felt it was scraping my skin too hard and I worried about causing tiny skin tears as a result. I soon realized, however, that I was doing it all wrong. All you have to do every morning before showering is to gently brush your skin. Start with soft pressure then slowly increase to firmer pressure over time. Start by brushing your legs and work towards your upper body. Becareful when brushing though, because you don’t want to bruise your skin!
