Breast augmentation became extremely popular in 2010, with more women seeking the cosmetic procedure to increase breast volume using implants and surgery. Celebrities like Jane Fonda and Victoria Beckham had their breasts done, which probably influenced their fans and the rest of the world to follow suit, although VB has since had her “torpedo bazookas” taken out.

As blowouts and hair dyes become more popular, people need something to keep their hair healthy and shiny – that’s where keratin treatments step in. Suits star and future duchess Meghan Markle was apparently a fan of the treatment. Just look at her lustrous, enviable hair!

Although commercially available in the late 1990s, laser hair removal didn’t completely take off ’til 2012, as Brazillian waxes saw their quick decline. Laser hair removal was seen as an improved alternative compared to Brazillian waxes because the unwanted hair would be permanently removed as time went by.

This year, liposuction was the top choice for cosmetic treatments. This fat removal procedure eliminates fats from targeted areas of your body. For example, Supermodel and Twitter extraordinaire Chrissy Teigen had liposuction on her armpits.

Fake tanning has come a long way since it began in the 1920s. Gone are the days where you’ll end up looking orange from a spray tan. Instead, celebrities like Angelina Jolie have embraced the bronze-goddess, sun-kissed skin look for red carpet premieres.

When Kylie Jenner admitted she got lip fillers, it caused the beauty treatment to surge in popularity by 70%. Her oversized pout caused an international phenomenon in the beauty world and on Instagram – lips will never be viewed the same way, ever again.

As South Korean beauties began to take over the big screen with their perfectly sculpted faces, people often zoomed in on their dainty, feminine noses. Some went far enough to get a nose job to resemble their favourite star. We wouldn’t blame them – Unpretty Rapstar musician Jessi had admitted to getting her nose done, and she looks amazing! In South Korea, you don’t have to be a celebrity to get a nose job, most people – from flight attendants to skilled workers, had one.

As the body-positivity movement took over the world, people started embracing themselves for who they are. This caused an 11% increase in the demand for breast reduction surgery, most of which were from women who had previously gotten breast enlargement surgery back when it was popular. Amber Rose was one of the celebrities who opted for this treatment.

2018 – Fat freezing

Fat freezing, sometimes known as “CoolSculpting,” or cryolipolysis freezes fat cells from selected areas of your body to reduce body fat. The idea actually came about from the observation when children’s cheeks undergo temporarily loss of cheek fat after eating popsicles. The new treatment took off pretty quickly because of it’s non-surgical, non-evasive properties – celebrities like Khloe Kardashian loved it.

2019 – Vaginal steaming

This year’s most popular beauty treatment is vaginal steaming. We’ve taken beauty off the surface of our skin and into our organs as people opt for more natural treatments over cosmetic ones. Gwyneth Paltrow popularised vaginal steaming, or as she called it, the “vagina facial,” which allows the heat and herbs to detoxify your labia.
