Say Goodbye To NYX Professional Malaysia; Store Closures Starting 1st July

When you start out in the beauty community, a lot of the time, the number of options can seem overwhelming. But, one thing stays true, NYX is a brand that is almost like a rite of passage for makeup lovers. Not only are their products almost always the cheaper (and just as good in quality) option, they. have. everything. Their reasonable price tag and options for all skin types means that even new buyers are easily tempted by their amazing products. However, Malaysian buyers will have to hurry to grab their faves because NYX Professional Makeup Malaysia just announced on their official Facebook Page that they will be closing their stores – permanently.

NYX’s diverse product range – with many memorable products – has given Malaysian makeup addicts so many options to experiment with for a lower cost since 2016. Whether your fave is their sweatproof brow pencil or their silky smooth Butter Gloss, starting the 30th of June, Malaysians are going to see stores pull their shutters closed for good. In their announcement, NYX Professionals listed the branches and their expected closure dates.

Starting with the stores in Suria KLCC, Sunway Pyramid & Midvalley Megamall, these stores will close after the 30th of June 2020. Following that, expect the stores in IOI City Mall Putrajaya to no longer operate after the 1st July and the ones in Sogo KL & PlayUp Advance (Fahrenheit 88 & Genting) to cease after the 31st of July this year.

It’s not all bad news though as NYX will continue to sell their products via their partners on Lazada, Shopee and Hermo until the 30th of September this year. However, after this date, the only way to stock up on your fave NYX products will be through their international stores. The LA-based makeup brand can be purchased through Amazon, Asos and Look Fantastic.

NYX’s Artist of the Year back in 2019, Hammada Bamadhaj, has also shared his feelings about the brand’s closure.

WE WON FACE AWARDS MALAYSIA 2019! • Third time’s a charm they say, and they WERE RIGHT. All the effort, time and labour put into this since the 1st annual #faceawardsmy finally paid off. Thank you to all who never stopped believing in me, supporting me with your words of encouragements, the votes, the likes, the shares, the comments. This win also goes out to all my fellow artists who joined in the past, to all the “unconventional” MUAs, to all the brown boys in makeup and just basically to everyone who feels like my win is your win. Because it is ❤️ Thank you so much. A chapter in my life has come to an end. I’m excited to find out what’s in store for me in the future. • #hammadart #malemua #faceawardsmy #nyxcosmeticsmy #winnerwinnerchickendinner

Speaking to Likely, he says,

“It’s really sad to see such an amazing brand affected by the MCO. We were planning on doing masterclasses together before the whole MCO. Honestly, the brand caters not only to professional MUAs but it is also beginner and starter friendly & I don’t know any other affordable grand that caters to creative special effects MUAs. I hope the employees who are affected are able to bounce back from this & I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the brand comes back to Malaysia in the future.”

Here’s the rest of their statement:

NYX, which is owned by parent company L’Oreal, has already closed its retail outlets in Brazil since last year, and Canada stores in mid-March this year. Until the abovementioned dates, you can get NYX Professional Makeup products at discounted rates of up to 80% in stores.

We send our love and support to the members of the NYX Professional Makeup company here in Malaysia as they navigate through this difficult time.
