Pumpkin Spice Latte Will Never Be Available In Malaysia, So Here’s How You Can DIY
We’re celebrating the fruit of Halloween for National Pumpkin Spice Day! As we all know, Starbucks has been celebrating it by creating a seasonal beverage for fall – famously known as the pumpkin spice latte.
It is said to be super yummy and perfect for the rainy weather. Unfortunately for us Malaysians, this popular drink may never be available in this country. But don’t worry, we got you covered.
Read below to find out how you can have a sip of the trendiest drink of October and make your very own Pumpkin Spice Latte:
To make this delicious drink, you’ll need:
1 cup of milk
2 tablespoons of pure pumpkin puree
1 tablespoon of sugar
¼ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice, plus more for sprinkling
¼ teaspoon of pure vanilla extract
¼ cup hot espresso or strong brewed coffee
Sweetened whipped cream for serving
Mix in the milk, pumpkin puree, sugar, pumpkin pie spice and vanilla in a microwave safe bowl, cover the bowl with plastic wrap and poke a small hole.
Microwave the milk for 1 to 2 minutes or at least till’ it’s hot. Whisk vigorously for about 30 seconds until the milk mixture foamy.
Pour the espresso or coffee into a mug and add the foamed milk. Top the drink with whipped cream and finish it with a sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice.

For this recipe, you’ll need:
1 stick of unsalted butter, melted, plus more for pan
1 3/4 cups of unbleached all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons of baking powder
4 teaspoons of instant espresso powder, plus more for dusting
1 1/2 teaspoons of Pumpkin-Pie Spice
3/4 teaspoon of kosher salt
2 large eggs, at room temperature
3/4 cup of pure pumpkin puree
3/4 cup of granulated sugar
1/2 cup of packed light-brown sugar
2/3 cup of whole milk, at room temperature
1 1/2 cups of heavy cream
3 tablespoons of confectioners’ sugar
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Butter a 9×2 inch of round cake pan. Line the bottom with parchment with butter.
In a large bowl, whisk the flour, baking powder, instant espresso powder, pumpkin-pie spice and salt. In another bowl, whisk the eggs into the pumpkin puree, then mix in butter, sugars, and milk. Then whisk the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients.
Put the batter into the pan and bake for 35 mins to 40 mins until the top springs back when lightly touched. Let it cool completely for about 2 hours.
Whisk the cream with confectioners’ sugar until soft peaks form and spread the cream on top of the cake. Finish it by dusting espresso powder.
