Puffy Under-eyes? A Vibrator Could Be Your Saving Grace

I’ve heard of using lube as lip gloss and primer but a vibrator to de-puff your under-eyes..?

Well, according to Toni Braxton – one of the highest-selling female R&B artists in history and never-ageing beauty – swears by this beauty tip. And if you’re not old enough to know who Toni Braxton is, sigh, she’s the icon behind the legendary bop “Unbreak My Heart”.

In a minute-long Vogue Beauty Secrets video, the 52-year old singer reveals that she uses a vibrator (that, disclaimer, she says she doesn’t use for anything else) to massage her face. She starts off sounding a little unsure (because honestly, she’s about to use a VIBRATOR on her FACE) but clarifies,

It is, it is a vibrator, but I call it a face tingler, it just tingles the muscles in my face to get them activated and working.”

She goes on to share how she likes to use it when it’s cold, increasing the sensation on her face muscles.

This has got the little ball here, which is perfect. Sometimes I put it in the freezer…this is really cold, I just kinda rub it, and it just activates all those muscles, get ‘em together. We are working today. We are gonna be cute today.”

And while it appears that Toni Braxton has nothing bad to say about using the vibrator as a face massager, she does have one precautionary warning for followers.

There’s 3 settings…but I wouldn’t advise putting it on 3.”

Although using a vibrator as a face massager is definitely new, the act of massaging one’s face is not. Whether your massager of choice is a jade roller or a more luxurious (aka pricy) Foreo device, massaging your face helps to…

1. Improve the appearance of your skin.

Back in 2017, researchers found that facial massages increased the absorbancy of the skin towards facial products. As a result, after 8 weeks, there was an improvement to wrinkles (which slowly minimised), their skin was less saggy and improved in elasticity. The stimulation of the facial muscles creates an anti-ageing effect, as blood flow is improved.

2. Relieve tension.

When you’re tense and stressed, the muscles on your face will tense up – and this causes wrinkles. By taking 2 to 5 minutes a day to massage your skin, be it with a tool or simply by gently tapping your face, you can loosen the tension and reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.

3. Quicken the healing process of scar tissue.

If you happen to have acne scars or any other form of scarring on your face, massaging it can quicken the healing process. As blood flow increases, the tissue loosens and bumps flatten. At the same time, it relieves pain, itching and tenderness.

So what are you waiting for? If you have a vibrator rolling around, you know what to do!
