1. “Find your light.”
Finding your light isn’t just about knowing where the good lighting is – that’s pretty obvious. It’s about finding YOUR light, searching for the angles that flatter you most and make you look super attractive in photos. When you find your light, exude confidence at let your inner beauty shine through the camera. Now that’s gorgeous!
2. “Don’t be a no neck monster.”
It’s all about the angles. A no-neck monster is someone who poses for a photo but their neck disappears due to posture, or some other reason. Always elongate your neck when you’re posing for photos. The longer your neck, the more model-esque you’ll appear to be. When you’ve got it, flaunt it, even if your neck isn’t very long in the first place.
In case you didn’t know it yet, smizing refers to “smiling with your eyes.” How does one master the art of smizing when one isn’t Tyra Banks? According to the mogul herself, you’ll need to squint using only your minute eye muscles, relax your eyebrows and your lips, and pretend a string is pulling your face from above. Otherwise, inhale a breath of air when the camera clicks to give yourself a candid look. Easier said than done, but we’ll get there!
4. “Always pose from H2T.”
Translation: always model with tension from head-to-toe. When you’re posing for your next OOTD, remember to pose from head to toe. While you’re at it, remember to do the booty tooch – pop out your posterior from the rest of your body to create the illusion of a curvier silhouette.
5. “Do not slouch.”
On the runway, in real life, and in photos, slouching is a complete no-no. It makes you look shorter and your clothes appear baggier. So here’s what to do instead – imagine there’s a wire in your spine pulling you all the way up to the ceiling. Otherwise, stand back against a wall and stay there. That’s how you practice not slouching.
We are all rooting for you. Whether you’re starting out with simple OOTDs or creating your modelling portfolio, the girls from Likely’s got your back!
