Our 95 Year Old Ex-Prime Minister, Tun M, Joins TikTok With The Cutest Challenge

There are tonnes of memes and TikTok’s making fun of Millennials (born between 1981 and 1996) on social media, for their inability to keep up with the trends and Gen Z’s. However, it looks like now – we Millennials don’t have an excuse. Tun Dr Mahathir bin Mohamad, who was born in 1925 (1-9-2-5!!!!), has joined TikTok.

His account handle is “chedetofficial” and his TikTok profile picture is one of him and his wife. As of time of writing, Tun M has amassed over 65,000 followers in one day (we’re loving his profile description!).

His first official TikTok is to Simple Plan’s “I’m Just A Kid” and is a tribute to his and his wife, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali’s, 64th wedding anniversary. The challenge, known as the “I’m Just A Kid Challenge”, has the pair posing for a picture and then comparing that image to one taken from when they were younger. Tun Dr Mahathir captioned the video “64 and still going strong #LoveStory”.

However, this wasn’t Tun Dr Mahathir’s first post for his wife. In an earlier post, our former fourth and seventh Prime Minister expressed his gratitude for his wife and their years together by captioning a photo collection of the two by saying how he’s not usually the type to show his affection and love in public. Nevertheless, Tun Dr Mahathir felt that, with it being over six decades of their love together, showing his affection for her on social media was worth it this time, considering the significance of the celebration. In the photos, posted before the TikTok, Tun Dr Mahathir and Tun Dr Siti Hasmah are seen enjoying a walk at sunset.

Having posted the same TikTok across his social media accounts (yes, he has Twitter and Instagram too), the well-wishes came pouring in for the couple.

And then there was this one joker who just had to (hilariously) make fun of the latest FINAS filming permit debacle –

In any case, Tun Dr Mahathir (who turned 95 last month) is the latest politician to join TikTok. Former Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman also has an account with the popular video app.
