Indonesia’s beautiful national costume is called the ‘Bird of Paradise’. Which shows how exotic, beautiful and elegant the ‘Bird of Paradise’ is. The outfit is beautifully done and a total show-stopper.

Thank you @thenewpaper ! 🙏🏼 It's our third year in a row designing and making the Miss Universe Singapore national costume. We feel so privileged and proud. 😁 . Earlier this year, when we were told that we had to design something based on this historic event, we were a little hesitant at first as we were well aware of the political sensitivities surrounding it. But hey! #challengeaccepted 👌🏼 . Singapore is widely known for our delicious food, beautiful gardens, and sunny smiles… and we think this design will hopefully show the world that we love peace and that we are doing our part to promote unity and friendship globally. #worldpeace 🇸🇬❤️☮️ . We hope you'll join us in wishing @zah16 all the very best in the Finals! Woah! Didn’t see that coming… But when Miss Universe Singapore, Zahra Khanum unveiled her national costume on November 29th, it sent the internet into a frenzy. Singapore’s national costume was a Trump-Kim summit costume, which ignited debate over its style, colour choice and most importantly, the depiction of the North Korean and United States flag. But in Singapore’s defense, the outfit is supposed to symbolise peace.

Woohoo!! Finally, I get to share the details of my national costume for Miss Universe. It’s inspired by Bangau Perahu from Terengganu. It’s iconic and rich in Malay culture, making it uniquely Malaysian. First thing when touching down Thailand is to drink a bottle of ice, cold Chang.this is the inspiration of Thailand’s national costume, called “Chang, the Icon of Siam”. Ning Sophida introduced the extravagant outfit on November 19th, with the ensemble of white train unfurling into a hood in the shape of an elephant’s head, complete with a collapsible trunk. So beautiful!

H’Hen Nie Miss Universe Vietnam 2018

Mm, tasty! Looks like the design team of Miss Universe Vietnam went all out on FOOD. The national costume embodied one of the most popular food in the Southeast Asia nation, banh mi, which is a Vietnamese baguette sandwich.

As reported by Viet Nam News, Miss Nie said, “Whether you go to the poorest areas of the North and Central Highlands, or the most exquisite places of HCM (Ho Chi Minh) City and Hanoi, you will find the presence of bread. For foreigners, seeing banh mi and pho (noodles) will remind them of Vietnam.” This is seriously giving me so much cravings.

Nat Rern, Miss Universe Cambodia 2018

Miss Universe Cambodia will have the weight of the kingdom on her shoulders, literally. Cambodia’s national costume is named “The Kingdonm of Wonder” and is designed thoughtfully, featuring culturally rich, historical elements on it. This includes a headdress in the form of UNESCO World Heritage Site Angkor Wat, along with the Cambodian flag colours. Her outfit looks absolutely magnificent.

"In the past, people were born royal. Nowadays, royalty comes from what you do." – Gianni Versace I felt incredibly proud to shed light on the rich, beautiful culture of Mindanao, most specifically Marawi which as of late has been synonymous with war, loss and tradegy. @jearsond took a vision, and brought it to life. His passion for what he does shows in every stone, every thread and every detail. Working with @jearond and his team was a dream and I couldn't think of a better pairing! 😻✨ The look was completed with original, handmade adornments lovingly created by @farah_abu. ✨✨✨ The weaved Inaul fabric unique to the Maguindanaon and Iranun tribes in Muslim Mindanao used in the gown was integrated into traditional style wedge shoes by @bragaisshoes. To my whole team along with @ton_lao, @harleybarleyyy, the creative vision of Jesson Cappuchino, dance choreography of my angels, @mimsqiu for my pasabog nails and @robinhistoria of David's Salon who made me look like a Muslim Princess last night at the @bbpilipinasofficial National Costume show, I love you all!! 😻 To all of my loves who have commented and showed their support either in person or online, thank you! I loved being a princess for a night! Thank you for supporting my journey to be a queen! 14 days to go! 👑 Photography @riaregino / Makeup @chinitohosikusieho / Hair @hairbybrentsales #CatrionaGrayBBP2018 #CatGanern #Binibini20 #BbPilipinas2018

Absolutely breathtaking! Miss Universe Philippines’ national costume is a work of art. Channeling Muslim princess vibes, the dress boasts handmade adornments sewn so intricate and detailed, you’ll have pause for a moment to savour it’s beauty. Here’s a little backstory: The dress is inspired by the rich culture of Mindanao, which has recently been associated with was, loss and tragedy. What’s interesting about this dress is that it uses Inaul fabric which is unique to the Maguindanaon and Iraun tribes in Muslim Mindanao. We love it.
