What is liquid exfoliator?

They’re mostly acids that exfoliate the skin when topically applied. Ingredients with Alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) such as glycolic acid and lactic acid exfoliates the surface of the skin and helps minimize skin staining left by spots. Meanwhile, Beta hydroxy acids (BHAs) like salicylic acid penetrate pores deeply, turfing out sebum, dead cells and keratin, which can all cause skin issues.

Are liquid exfoliators the same as scrubs?

Liquid exfoliators are different from scrubs as they do not contain any abrasive particles.

Liquid exfoliators are great for oily, acne-prone skin and pregnant women too!

Use the one with alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) and beta hydroxy acid (BHA). These break apart keratin and has a lower pH value, which helps to get rid of bacteria. For dry skin, choose products with AHA or poly hydroxy acid (PHA), since PHAs are milder and don’t cause as much irritation.

For skin that’s prone to redness, opt for azaleic acid, a micro exfoliator that works to clear pores and fade excess pigmentation. Pregnant women can benefit from liquid exfoliants too, but check with your doctors just to be safe!
