Lea Michelle Deletes Twitter After Trolls Say “It Should’ve Been You” Following Naya Rivera’s Disappearance
Fans and trolls alike have been calling on Naya Rivera’s ‘Glee’ costars to comment on her disappearance. And while some have been vocal in their prayers that she is found safe, Lea Michelle has been keeping mum. However, the soon-to-be-mother has been the victim of harassment as a result of her decision to stay quiet. Amongst the many violent threats, most aimed at here said that “it should have been [you] that’s gone missing” while others were threats levelled at her unborn child.
Following this, on Saturday (11th July), Lea Michelle deleted her Twitter page. Her usual handle, @leamichele, now shows a deactivated account page with no tweets left behind. The Scream Queens actress made a quiet exit from the social media platform, without a word to her 4 million followers. While her Instagram account is still up, it is currently inactive.
As the Twitterverse is now flooded with people who are sending their love to Michelle (a 180-degree change from when she was first ousted for racist behaviour on past acting projects), fans are also sharing theories for why Michelle deleted her Twitter account. Many think that it is merely the result of the level of harassment she was facing following Rivera’s disappearance but others believe that it is a mixture of that, the fact that today (13th July) is the anniversary of the passing of her boyfriend (And fellow Glee alum) Cory Monteith and the impact of Rivera’s disappearance.
i absolutely don’t care about who you are and what do you think about lea michele, telling her that it should have been her instead of naya is so wrong and f!cked up. don’t do that. she’s still a human being and she’s going to be a mother soon.

If Lea wouldn't say anything about Naya, people would find it wrong. If she says something, people would call her hypocrit. I don't like her but yeah… I even saw some people saying Lea is responsible for Naya's disappearance. Crazy theories are not helping Naya's case.

Michelle’s last post on Instagram was her apology following Samantha Marie Ware’s revelation that the star had made her time on Glee “a living hell”. After Michelle’s account went missing on Twitter, fellow Glee alum, Amber Riley, indirectly made reference to the hate directed at Michelle. She tweeted, “Show some respect! … This is very real and devastating. Focus on Naya and her family. Not us. We don’t matter right now.”
Show some respect. All our energy is going toward helping find Naya and praying for her safe return and for her family. No one owes anyone online a performance of grief. This is very real and devastating. Focus on Naya and her family. Not us. We don’t matter right now.

On July 8th, it was revealed that actress Naya Rivera, who played “Santana” on Glee, was missing following a boating outing with her 4-year-old son. As of now, the Ventura County Sheriff’s are conducting a “recovery” operation as they are presuming that the 33-year-old is now deceased. During a press conference on Friday, Capt. Eric Buschow shared that their team was using “many resources” to find her. However, he said,
We don’t know if she’s going to be found five minutes from now or five days from now.”
And while Michelle and Rivera have had a difficult history (with Rivera mentioning in her memoir how Michelle practically didn’t talk to her while filming season 6), the two seemed to have left things in the past. When Michelle showd off her baby bump on Instagram, Rivera commented,
Aww congrats! I love this. You’re going to be a great mommy.”
