Ladies, Don’t Feel Shy About Wearing Makeup To The Gym
In case you haven’t noticed, athleisure fashion is a definite thing now. Thanks to well-known fitness brands like Adidas and Nike for pushing and redefining gym gears to cooler, chic activewear range.
But that’s not the only change we see in the fitness world, the way we make up our faces to workout has changed too.
Welcome to the age of athleisure beauty!
No more dissing girls who wear makeup to the gym because it is perfectly okay to put your face on. Athleisure beauty is all about protecting and complimenting your skin while breaking a sweat.
Makeup designed for sweaty skin
Using your usual makeup products may not be suitable to use because your skin completely changes when you’re working out. This is because your pores open up and sweat comes out from it. Thankfully, the cosmetics industry is always looking for new innovative ways to create sweat proof and hydrating moisturisers and lip balms that will not clog up your skin.
Athleisure beauty can be broken down into two categories:-
- Sweat-proof & waterproof makeup products that won’t budge.
- “Natural” makeup that contains minerals and causes less damage to the skin.
You can wear makeup to the gym but be sure to commit to a post-workout cleanse!
1. Always wash your face with a gentle cleanser
Rest your body for a while and once done, wash your face. Even if you don’t feel like taking a shower, always clean your face up with a mild cleanser before leaving the gym. You don’t want all the dirt, oil and bodily fluid sticking to your skin and clogging the pores.
No sink? Bring your own wet wipes!
2. Wash with warm water and end it with cold water
Hot water can dry out the skin, especially skin already heated from a workout. The lower temp can cool your skin, of course, but it can help close your pores, which dilate to help release sweat.
3. Don’t wipe your face, instead pat your skin dry.
Using a towel to wipe your skin dry can irritate your skin especially if your skin gets red really fast.
