Jeffree Star, Rihanna & More Caught In 2019’s Major Beauty Dramas

In today’s beauty news..

Well, more like the first quarter of 2019 — a lot has happened in the beauty world. Two popular brands were involved in major thefts earlier this year, while another brand was forced to remove a newly-launched product because it’s deemed “culturally inappropriate”.

If there is one thing we simply can’t live without, it’s some capital-D DRAMA. And sweeties, have we’ve got a kettle full of tea for you!

1. Jeffree Star

In case you missed it, Jeffree has released a tell-all video following the announcement of his Blue Blood palette. Apparently, a ‘professional undercover theft’ happened at one of his warehouses leading him and his team to lose over $2.5m worth of product – including majority of an entire shade of his new concealers.

But it appears that fans aren’t all too convinced by his claims, as they’re questioning the legitimacy of whether or not Jeffree was robbed after all – despite the beauty guru revealing that he was working closely with the FBI to locate the stolen illegal goods. Hmm.. we guess you have watch the video above and tell us what you think of the whole debacle!

2. Fenty Beauty’s Geisha Highlighter

In addition to the news above, just days after Fenty Beauty announced three new Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter shades, Rihanna’s beauty line recalled one of the items after complaints from some users that the name was offensive. The three highlighter shades announced on Saturday included Afternoon Snack/Mo’ Hunny, #PENNY4UTHOTS and a third named Geisha Chic Hunny.

As an Asian, I don’t see the problem in Fenty Beauty naming one of their highlighter/blush product ‘Geisha Chic’. But of course, since we’re currently living in a PC-focused world, it appeared the blush shade had been removed from the Fenty Beauty site and it is no longer being promoted on the line’s Instagram feed. Fans have continued debating the issue on Twitter.

3. James Charles receive shade for being a male MUA by British newscasters

Meanwhile, James seems to get himself involved in every single drama he can on YouTube or social media lately. Rumours sparked throughout Twitter on January 28, after users began posting that they’d found an intimate video featuring an individual that appeared to be Charles which some claimed had been posted to Instagram.

He has denied those claims, saying, “This is exciting news to me considering i’m still very much a virgin lol”.

On top of that, James was also dragged in another drama on the same day — involving a complete road standstill at Birmingham for the launch of his Morphe pallette. Rows of police and security guards struggled to hold back thousands of people, mainly teenage girls, who had been gathering since early in the morning.

What’s worse, motorists abandoned cars and the city was gridlocked for hours after thousands of teenagers flooded the city centre to see the 19-year-old YouTuber make a public appearance at a cosmetics store. Unsurprisingly, the Brits did were not happy about this as James caused a major traffic freeze which disrupted their commute to work. They were so unhappy that this occurrence even made it to the news!

He wrote to Twitter: “My Uber driver turned on the radio to the biggest station in the U.K and they were talking about our meet and greet and saying he had no idea who I was so I tried to call in AND GOT THROUGH & educated him on the sisterhood OMG.” Girl, you need to watch the Facebook video above for the full breakdown.
