How To Know If You’re Being Sexually Groomed?

Earlier this week, Drake aged 33 got called out by fans after Billie Eilish, aged 17 revealed in a recent interview with Vanity Fair that she’s been texting the Spotify Most Streamed Artist of The Decade.

She said, “But like Drake, c’mon. Drake. Drake is like the nicest dude I’ve ever spoken to,” Eilish told the outlet. “I mean I’ve only like texted him, but he’s so nice. Like, he does not need to be nice. You know what I mean? He’s at a level of his life where he doesn’t need to be nice, but he is. You know?”

Here’s where Twitter exploded with concerns and criticized the Canadian rapper for texting a teenager. There were tons of tweets that also accused Drake of ‘grooming’ Billie.

Shockingly, this isn’t the first time Drake was caught in this kind of situation. Just last year, he was also accused of allegedly grooming Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown, aged 14.

“I love him. I met him in Australia and he’s honestly a great friend and a great role model. You know we text. We just texted each other the other day and he was like ‘I miss you so much,’ and I was like ‘I miss you more,’ he’s great,” Brown said at the time. “He’s coming to Atlanta, so I’m definitely going to go and see him. I’m so excited.”

Regardless, we really don’t know the truth between the celebrities. We could be too quick to assume things! But you can take action by protecting yourself. Sometimes, you may not be aware that you’re a victim of grooming because it starts with “friendship”. Here are the signs for you to watch out for:-

  • They ask for really personal/intimate information about you, early on in the relationship
  • Often ask to keep the relationship a secret
  • You feel pressured into doing or saying things that make you uncomfortable
  • Constant exchange photos between the two of you
  • They talk about your sexual experience or how you feel about doing certain sexual things
  • They send valuable/personal gifts excessively
  • They’re much, much older than you

If you’re still unsure, talk about it to someone else. Most likely, they’re able to identify if there’s something wrong with the person you’re talking with.
