As I sit here typing this I still can’t wrap my head around the fact that I qualified for the Olympic Games in Tokyo, 2020. It has been my dream since I was 8 years old and to see it become a reality is an indescribable feeling. After coming so close in Rio and not qualifying, it was devastating. Farah Ann will be the Malaysian female artistic gymnast to compete in the Olympics after 20 years, after Au Li Yen, who competed at Sydney back in 2020.
Her coach, Ng Shu Wai, also competed in the 2004 Olympics for the men’s artistic event.
According to the New Straits Times, Ng Shu Wai mentioned that Farah Ann has made everyone proud.
“It’s all her determination, perseverance, hard work and never-say-die attitude that got her to where she is right now.”
Artistic gymnastics has not been an easy sport for Malaysians to qualify, but that is changing with the likes of Farah Ann and her teammates.
The 2020 Summer Olympics is scheduled to take place from 24 July to 9 August 2020 in Tokyo, Japan at the New National Stadium.
See you at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Farah Ann. We are all rooting for you!
