Do Jade Rollers Actually Make Skincare Products Work Better?
Jade rollers – if you haven’t seen this kind of thing before, it’s all over Instagram! The Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle and Hollywood celebrity Courteney Cox are apparently fans of the ancient Chinese beauty regime.
There are many types of gemstones which have been used as jade rollers – including jade (of course), rose quartz and amethyst, so you can choose your favourite healing crystal.
Anyway, what do jade rollers actually do? Let’s find out if they actually work, or if they’re just a pretty object on your vanity table.
What is jade rolling?
Jade rolling is a beauty technique derived from ancient Chinese beauty rituals where women would use a jade-based roller to apply pressure to the skin and underlying tissues, creating movements beneath the surface of the skin. It can be done on the areas around your face, neck and eyes.
What jade rollers actually do:

Jade rolling can reduce puffiness, improve lymphatic blood flow, and lessen inflammation. You don’t have to stick it in the fridge to cool it, the gemstone would already be cool to touch. If you feel like you’ve got a bit of a bloated face in the morning (it’s the hangover, people), jade rolling would work wonders for you.
What jade rollers don’t do:
Well, jade rollers aren’t actually miracle workers. Gently rolling a piece of jade once or twice over the surface of your skin isn’t going to work miracles. You probably won’t get magically glowing skin overnight unless you use the jade roller on a regular basis.
It won’t “push” your skincare products deeper into your skin either, but the jade roller will certainly help spread products on evenly.
Should you invest in a jade roller?
Well, why not! Besides the feeling of calm coolness and the benefits of de-puffing your face, the jade roller can be mentally therapeutic. Just think of rolling a cool gemstone all over your face after a hard day’s work. Plus, it makes you feel somewhat ~ luxurious ~.
