Did You Know? The Best Age To Start Your Anti-Aging Routine Is 25

Skincare can be one complicated thing – we’d slather on creams and serums just so we can look younger and more radiant.

But… have you ever wondered when is the best time to start your anti-aging skincare routine? Think retinols, vitamins and hyaluronic acid to keep those wrinkles at bay!

We spoke to a beauty industry expert, Eve Goh the Marketing Manager from Pharmacy Business of Beiersdorf Malaysia & Singapore to find out what’s the best age to start our anti-aging efforts and her best skincare tips.

Tip #1: Start in your mid-twenties

According to Eve, women should start our anti-aging efforts in our mid-twenties, and not in our early thirties, as most people would think. She explained,

“Mid-twenties is a good time to start because you’ll start to see fine lines and you’re beginning to lose youthful radiance.”

We’re starting to feel it, aren’t we? However, Eve goes further to elaborate that sunscreen is also an anti-aging product and you should start using it ASAP. For example, award-winning actress Michelle Yeoh never goes anywhere without slapping on some sunscreen first!

Tip #2: Prevention is better than cure

It sounds cliche but when it comes to aging gracefully, you’l want to prevent the signs of aging before they actually appear on your face. Eve confirms:

“It’s better to prevent than to reverse the signs of ageing. When you have wrinkles and fine lines, it will be too late already.”

This is why your mid-twenties is a better time to begin because your fine lines probably aren’t prominent yet.

Tip #3: Invest in dermatologically-proven skincare products

While we may be tempted to reach for over-the-counter skincare products at the nearest pharmacy (blame it on the sale!), you may want to check if it’s dermatologically-proven yet. Eve explained:

“To achieve that status, brands need to do all kinds of clinical tests to confirm that the ingredients in the products are actually safe to be used on all skin types, including sensitive skin.”

Besides that, the tests will prove that the product actually works, of course. One product would be Eucerin Hyaluron-Filler Vitamin C Booster which was launched quite recently. FYI we may receive an affiliate commission if you purchase from the given link.

Tip #4: Your skin is what you eat

Skincare is just one part of aging gracefully, and the other part is what you eat. Our expert mentioned:

“Besides skincare, we should also practice a healthy diet with foods that contain high antioxidants, like nuts, vegetables and fish.”

These foods have antioxidants like Vitamin C to fight free-radical damage caused by pollution. We can’t wait to look young and glowing again!
