Did Kat Von D Really Scam Customers With Her Eyeliner?

In this day and age, who doesn’t know Kat Von D, right?

The famous tattoo artist turned TV personality and entrepreneur is a queen in the beauty world, making her mark not only in the US, but in the international scene as well.

However, the tattoo artist’s makeup line recently came under fire for apparently scamming customers with sample size ink cartridges which are housed in full sized tube. If you’re a makeup junkie, you would be familiar with one of Kat Von D’s cult product, the Trooper Tattoo Liner, which retails for RM 93.

A woman named Cheyenne Vaughan wrote on 19th February, “Y’all I’m about to lose my mind right now,” while sharing a photo of the tiny eyeliner container.

Yall I'm about to lose my mind right now Kat von D really been putting a sample size eyeliner into a longer shell tube and selling to my dumb ass for triple the price. I'M ABOUT TO LOSE MY MIND RIGHT NOW

Revealing this on Facebook, her post quickly went viral and makeup lovers specifically of the Trooper Tattoo Liner, weren’t happy with it.

But hang on, are we too quick to speculate Kat Von D’s cosmetic brand? Looks like it because Kat herself addressed the controversy on her Instagram account. In the post, she compared both her Tattoo Eyeliner and an eyeliner from Stila to show that most liquid liners in the market uses the same kind of packaging.

She also insisted that the size of the tube inside the liner does not actually affect the amount of product in the full tube.

Before people start losing their minds over a recent post attacking our beloved @katvondbeauty Tattoo Liner, please read: The cartridges in both full size liners and mini liners are the same — it’s the amount of product inside each cartridge that is different. So, for example, the product fill on our full size Tattoo Liner is 0.55 ml, while the product fill for the mini is 0.2 ml – thats over DOUBLE the amount of product! Any brand who has an eyeliner with similar component on the market will tell you the same thing. You need that much cartridge space for the pigment to flow out. Hope this helps explain any confusion out there! Lotsa Love, [especially to all my haters].😘❤️ #tattooliner #forever

So here’s a lesson for all of us, let’s not jump into conclusions before actually verifying the news!
