Barbie® To Honour Our Five Female Athletes To Inspire The Next Generation

Girl power! Mattel unveiled Barbie Honourary Award to honour some of the world’s most impressive female athletes—and that includes our own Malaysian’s female athletes! 

As we all know, Barbie is widely known for their impressive projects over the years; honouring local role models who inspire the next generation of girls. And this year is no different. Introducing the new Barbie® Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 Doll Assortment—the brand is set to encourage and empower girls in the field of sports while helping to celebrate the remarkable sportswomen for their achievements. 

In conjunction with International Women’s Day, Barbie Malaysia celebrates 5 female athletes who have brought Malaysia pride through their athletic achievements to spur inspiration in young aspiring female athletes.

1. Nicol David, World Squash Champion, Columnist & Advocate for Women in Sports, Malaysia

2. Farah Ann, Artistic Gymnast, Malaysia

3. Shalin Zulkifli, Bowler, Malaysia

4. Leong Mun Yee, Diver, Malaysia

5. Anja Chong, Short Track Speed Skater, Malaysia

The first ever Asia ‘’Barbie Sports Arena’’ which will be commencing in June 2020, will showcase sport-inspired activities and kids are able to experience being a real athlete. There will also be a “Barbie Sports Championship” slated for Q3/Q4 2020 and kids are able to participate in the qualifying rounds across the region and winners will compete in the Southeast Asia Grand Finals to represent their home country!
