Anna Kendrick Said That Filming Twilight Was Like Surviving “A Hostage Situation”

Anna Kendrick said that filming “Twilight” was like going “through some trauma event”. In a recent sit down with Vanity Fair, Kendrick is asked about her career and during this lookback, she talks about being “so cold and miserable” while filming for the first Twilight saga instalment back in 2008.

The ‘Pitch Perfect’ star was cast as ‘Jessica Stanley’ and appeared in four out of five of the movies. The first movie was shot in Portland, Oregon. Kendrick, who appeared in four of the franchise’s movies, recalled “being so cold and miserable” while filming the first movie in Portland, Oregon. As Bella Swan’s friend in the movie, Kendrick’s role was minor enough that she didn’t need to be there all the time but major enough that she had to put effort into her acting and her lines. With the movies released between the years of 2008 to 2012, a portion of Kendrick’s early days centred around Stephenie Meyer’s movie adaptations.

In the interview, Kendrick jokes about how the traumatic experience made her want to kill her costars but also bonded them together,

“I just remember my Converse being completely soaked through and feeling like, ‘You know, this is a really great group of people and I’m sure that we would be friends at a different time, but I want to murder everyone. Although, it was also kind of bonding. There was something about it, like if you go through some trauma event. Like you imagine people who survive a hostage situation, and you’re kind of bonded for life.”

And whether or not she remembers filming all the movies, she says,

“They all start to blend into one at some point because my whole job was just to go to like this family of very pale people who we never see eating.”

As for ending the franchise, she jokes,

“I was in the fourth movie and it was just like a wedding scene where again, I’m like, ‘Mmm, these people are so weird’. Everybody else has been like giving their blood, sweat, and tears to the project for months. I show up at the end and I’m like, ‘Guys, we did it’s over.’”

The Twilight novels and movies were a huge phenomenon but Kendrick isn’t the only one who didn’t enjoy her time filming the movie – the leading actor Robert Pattinson has been very very vocal about his dislike for the Twilight saga. He has infamously said, “When I read it, it felt like a book that shouldn’t have been published.” Not only that, he told Vanity Fair back in 2011 that he felt weird about being a part of “something you don’t particularly like”. In fact, Pattinson’s tremendous disdain for his time with the movie has even been made into a whole Tumblr account dedicated to the things Pattinson has said about this hate for the franchise.

There is some solidarity in knowing the fact that the movies were as painful for them to film as it was for us to watch…
