5 Tips For You To Get Noticed By Official Photographers At GVF
Malaysia’s very own “Coachella-inspired” music event, Good Vibes Festival 2019 is happening in exactly two months and we honestly can’t wait to see you at Genting! Although the organisers have yet to announce the second lineup, in the meantime, there are plenty of stuff that you can do while you wait such as planning your FOTD outfits.
Oh yes, the best part about festivals is that you get to dress up however you like without being judged. You can channel your inner goth, disco ball, rainbow, whatever. Just do you babe. And if your ensemble catches everyone’s attention — including the official photographers — then that’s definitely a bonus.
From personal experience, I can tell you that going to festivals get a lot more fun when suddenly, somebody approaches you and say, “Hey, do you mind if I take a photo of you for my magazine?” It feels good when someone appreciates your effort and style skill, doesn’t it?
1. Be unique & creative
Knowing how to get your FOTD snapped by official photographers involves several key factors. But the most important is to make your outfit or makeup stand out and look great. Nobody would bother taking photos of mediocre outfits that everyone else are wearing too. For instance, last year’s Good Vibes festival saw 90% of the male attendees wearing floral shirt. While it’s perfectly OK for you to match with the rest of the crowd — If your goal is to showcase your creativity, then you need to look extra amazing. Go crazy!
2. Plan your outfits ahead
I would prepare my outfits (for both days) at least two months ahead. This way, I’ll get everything in perfect sizes and reduce the risk of having to settle for the “leftovers”.
3. You don’t necessarily need a big budget
Whether you plan to spend RM10 or RM1000 on your festival ootds, that’s up to you. But you have to remember to look good! If you think outside of the box with your fashion/beauty choices, there’s a good chance that you will gain a good amount of exposure. You will need to create something that’s both impressive and interesting, without breaking your budget of course.
4. Come early
They say that the early bird catches the worm. In this case, you need to arrive at the festival scene before the sun goes down because all the good acts will usually start performing after 6PM. And pretty sure the photographers would be chilling with their friends instead of working by then, as there won’t be any sunlight to work with anymore.
Plus, you should enjoy the activities available at the festival ground. You’ve paid a lot of $$$ for those tickets anyway. Why not try to score some freebies at the vendors?
5. Squad Up
Call up your festival buddies and match your dope FOTDs with them. On top of turning heads, this would also be a fun way to bond with your friends at Good Vibes Fest.

Here’s a bonus tip. You don’t need to have a lot of followers on Instagram to be noticed. You just need to post high quality, eye-catching photos of your festival outfits ASAP. Maximum = Two days after the festival ends. In case you didn’t manage to get approached by official photographers during the event, who knows? Perhaps the fashion writers from local sites would pick up your picture and include it in their best dressed list instead. Don’t forget to include official hashtags. #SpottedAtGVF
