5 Semi-Permanent Makeup Options Available In Malaysia

Writer: Farah Karim

We’ve talked about semi-permanent concealer in our previous article but have you ever thought about other kinds of semi-permanent makeup?

Semi-permanent makeup is also known as micropigmentation — a form of temporary cosmetic tattooing. It allows you to look like you’re having makeup on which lasts longer than 24 hours! The process involves teeny tiny particles of pigment placed beneath the surface of the skin and it can stay there for a few years, eventually breaking down and fading with time.

Is it worth it though? For many people, taking the leap with semi-permanent makeup is just so much convenient and easier. You’re not only shaving off an extra 5 to 10 minutes of prep time in the morning but you also have less to worry about at night when getting ready for bed. Don’t worry about it looking unnatural! Almost all of them fade and it offers the most natural and consistent looking results. They’re incredibly realistic and with advanced technology, you’re guaranteed to get perfect results every time. Say goodbye to lengthy make-up routines and hello to more sleep time in the morning.

Here are the five semi-permanent makeup trends that people usually go for.

1. Brows

Some people like to give their brows a little tint using eyebrow pencils, while some people like it looking all natural with eyebrow powder – but nobody likes a bald one. With microblading, it mimics the way hair looks naturally and makes it look like you’re not wearing anything. Don’t worry about the pain though, because many people say it’s similar to very light scratching. Should be okay, considering that you’ll walk out of the salon looking like a million bucks.

2. Lips

A MLBB (My Lips But Better) look is something that can be easily done. It doesn’t only give your lip a brighter, vibrant colour but also creates the illusion that your lips are fuller without any injections. Although you might feel some tenderness afterwards, aftercare is minimal and super easy. No more worrying about your lipstick fading when consuming food next time!

3. Eyeliner

There is more than one type of eyeliner tattoo to choose from — One of them is the tightline. Pigment is placed between the layers of your eyelashes and because of its darkening effect, it can accentuate your lashes without the need for extensions. The second type is a level above the tightline where the pigment is applied above the lash line and drawn as if you were using a liquid eyeliner.

4. Freckles

If you’re someone who loves the look of freckles, you’re in for good news because semi-permanent freckles are a thing now. However, because it’s a relatively new practice, it’s difficult to find a reputable local cosmetic tattooist especially if you don’t live in a big city. They can last up to two years and compared to other semi-permanent tattoos, how long they last depends on how much sun exposure you get, your skin type, whether you smoke as well as a bunch of other things.

5. Concealer

Dark circles can be annoying especially when they just make you look tired and sleepy when you’re not at all. Similar to the other types of semi-permanent tattoos, semi-permanent concealing is done by using skin-like ink. They can last up to three years but be warned — you might find a bit of redness after the treatment. If you do get this treatment, remember to always wear sunblock and sunglasses whenever you leave the house!
