5 Pre-Workout Foods To Fuel Your Sweat Sesh

Like most people who go to the gym, we’ll usually faced with two options: eat something random before a workout, or pass out halfway through an intense class.

Fortunately, there are pre-workout foods that are good for you and can help with your exercise too. The perfect pre-workout snack will have just the right amount of carbs, proteins and fats. Carbs give you the much-needed energy, protein helps your muscles repair after a workout and good fats help sustain your energy levels.

We’ve found a few pre-workout food combos for you to try. We’d recommend eating this at least 30 minutes before your sweat sesh so you’ll get the best out of it.

1. Avocado toast & egg

Ahh the toast that boomers seem to hate so actually has pre-workout benefits. Millennials must be really fit. Choose wholegrain bread for fibre, while the egg provides you with much-needed protein. Meanwhile, the avocado is rich in vitamins, magnesium, omega-3 fatty acids and potassium. There’s a quick, balanced meal before spin class.

2. Overnight oats

These are easy to make, and you can top it off with delicious fruits, nuts and seeds. People have been eating the nutrient-rich oats since forever, and it can help with weight loss too. Add fruits for the essential vitamins and a handful of chia seeds to keep your energy levels up. You can opt for cooked oats if you prefer.

3. Vegetables and hummus

If you’d like to indulge in a snack before your workout, consider some raw veggies dipped in hummus. It’s delicious, fulfilling, and healthy. Hummus is made of mostly chickpeas, which give you an essential source of protein, carbs, and fibre.
