4 Ways Dyeing Your Hair Can Be Life-Changing

Writer: Farah Karim

With models and influencers like Irene Kim, Wengie and Pony who are known for their colourful tresses, it’s easy to fall into the allure of having cotton candy-like hair. And there’s a good reason why! These colours aren’t just mystical and whimsical but are also show-stopping as it can attract all sorts of attention.

However, dyeing your hair to such colours is no easy feat — especially for dark-haired Asians — which may put off some people from doing it. While some people think it’s just putting colour on your head, taking the leap to having bright green hair is more than that. For many, it can even be life changing.

1. Confidence boost

It’s uncommon and people will stare. But strangely enough, this gives people a boost of confidence knowing that people are not just staring but admiring their new look.

2. No regrets

A lot of people always aspire to have dyed their hair some crazy colour at one point or another. And unfortunately, it is not usually deemed appropriate in most work places. This will cause people to have regrets for not dyeing their hair sooner like in university when anything and everything is accepted. And who knows? If you find a shade that suits you best, you might even stick with that colour for a few years.

3. Try something new

Why not try something new? If you’re adventurous and love taking on new challenges, then dyeing your hair might be the thing for you. The fact that there are so many crazy colours that may be hard to pull off makes it an adventure in itself. Dyeing your hair is harmless and isn’t all that serious! Why not live a little?

4. Freedom of expression

Like everything that we wear, dyeing your hair is another form of self-expression. It’s a way of exploring yourself and getting to know who you are as a person and the style that you like to wear. With so many colours, there are so many possibilities! And because it’s hair, if you don’t like it then you can always change it back to your original hair colour. Plus, since the colours constantly fade, you can switch up your look every once in a while and reinvent your style.

5. The best version of you

Instead of blending in with the crowd, why not stand out? Speaking from experience, the year I dyed my hair red was the best year of my life. It was something about having a new hair colour that made me more confident and made things easier to talk to people. If new shoes, new clothes and new bags can make people more confident then why can’t hair do the same? Why not try dyeing your hair and see where it takes you?
